Week 8 of Body Recomp – To evolve, Master the art of Surrender

To Relinquish Control, You Will Have to Surrender…

Let’s be honest—being in control can feel really good. When we’re in control of a situation, there’s a level of predictability that puts us at ease and, for a moment, makes us feel like we can predict our future. But control also feeds our belief that we’ve got the skill, foresight, and wisdom to prevent any uncomfortable elements of surprise from entering our lives; and that is a lie.

We try to control things because of what we think will happen if we don’t. In other words, control is rooted in FEAR.

Fear of failure, fear of rejection or fear that we’re just not enough. Fear is a common current that runs through all of our lives. And if we let it, fear can keep us locked up in the prison of the comfortable and predictable, which prevents us from reaching our true potential. Living in fear causes a double conundrum where you’re unfulfilled with the status quo yet afraid to pursue anything better.

Here are a few signs you are living in fear:

🔺PERFECTIONISM. The need to be perfect is a mask we wear to protect ourselves from finding true intimacy and connection. It is also the lowest standard in the world, because it is impossible to achieve.

🔺SETTLING. On the other hand, settling for less than you deserve is a powerful indicator you’re letting your need for certainty run your life. If you don’t have an extraordinary, passionate relationship and a job you absolutely love, you’re living in fear.

🔺PROCASTINATION. Always putting your goals off until “tomorrow” or “when I have more time” is a classic delay tactic of those who are living in fear. It’s time to stop making excuses and start achieving your dreams.

But there is also a way that fear can serve a valuable purpose, helping us break through the frustration to achieve the life we truly desire.

Surrender literally means to stop fighting. Stop fighting with yourself. Stop fighting the universe and the natural flow of things. Stop resisting and pushing against reality.
The Power of Surrender
As we navigate the winding paths of personal mastery, leadership development, and spiritual growth, one word keeps echoing around us – Surrender. Could surrender be your secret weapon for personal transformation and growth? Surrender may conjure images of weakness or resignation for some, yet, paradoxically, it is in surrender that we find our greatest power.

What if surrender didn’t mean giving up, but rather embracing? Like a paper boat carried by a river, surrender is about trusting the cosmic currents of life and going where they take us. When we surrender, we allow life to choreograph our journey.

The Courage to Surrender
To surrender is to be courageous. It’s to stand at the edge of fear, peering into the unknown and deciding to step forward. Surrender isn’t about losing or being weak. It’s about opening our hearts to the unknown, letting go of the illusion of control, and courageously welcoming the guidance of the universe.

The Inner Battle of Surrender
Why do we fear surrender? It’s because our ego clings desperately to the illusion of control. It thrives on certainty, expectations, desires, and its own belief systems. The idea of surrendering to these feeds our ego’s fear of vulnerability, of losing its identity.

However, true surrender calls for us to transcend these self-imposed boundaries and step into the realm of higher wisdom. It’s about stepping outside our comfort zone and relinquishing our attachment to a particular outcome.

Are you ready to embark on this transformative journey?
MASTER THE ART OF SURRENDER

To get more you need to EXPAND your capacity to hold more.

It sounds so simple but it’s not because it’s a nervous system thing. Unless your nervous system feels safe holding more, you won’t get more. Or if you do, it won’t last

Think of it like a rubber band. It can hold a certain thickness of pens. To hold more pens it needs to be stretched. If it stretches too fast then it’ll snap. If it does it slowly and gradually then it’ll expand. It wouldn’t feel very comfortable being stretched out at first but with time it can comfortably hold more as it’s new natural state is the stretched out one.

Prior To Expanding

Everything is duality. To expand and hold more, you also need to contract more.

To have more love you have to be open to experience more hate. To have and keep more money, you have to be open to losing it and feeling safe without it. To expand and reach new levels in your career, health, love… you must also be able to contract to deeper levels.

This happens internally and then externally because everything is a reflection of your inner world. You might think this is great, I’m doing the work, I feel different. Internally you are, but externally things take time to catch up.

You can be doing all the right work, yet things are still falling apart in your life.

This is when you have to stay in your power and keep going anyway, trusting it’s all part of the plan that you won’t be able to see until you look back in retrospect.

Contracting can make it feel like you’re going backwards. Things seem harder when really they’re just setting you up to propel forward. Like an arrow being released from a bow- it has to go back first. It’s the contraction that creates the space that you need to be able to grow.

Expect The Unexpected

You can’t plan how expansion season will unfold. There are going to be countless unknowns which can be scary. You’ll need to learn how to step into the fear while also learning how to regulate your nervous system to stay calm.

You’ve never experienced what it feels like to be at your next level. It won’t feel safe at first even if it’s what you think you want. You might be thinking this sounds crazy, what do you mean it won’t feel safe, I feel fine!

Remember, a lot of this is subconscious. You won’t be aware of it unless you bring it up. You’ll be tested over and over to make sure you’ve learnt the lessons to truly hold your new level and feel safe there.

It’s hard to know what these tests will be in advance. You can only expect the unexpected. When you’re tested, you’ll want to go back to the behaviors of your old self. You might see it as, “self sabotage.” Really it’s just your nervous system keeping you safe.

You have to learn how to respond differently. That’s when you’ll have truly expanded and everything else comes in.

The Easiest Way Forward
You have two options when things get tough or you’re faced with uncertainty… You can either try and control everything, worry about how it’s going to work out and stress about what may go wrong. OR…..

You can surrender, let go of control, not stress about the how and trust: everything is exactly as it’s mean to be and it’s all happening for your highest good.

You can either live your life thinking about worst case scenarios or you can live your life in the present moment and enjoy it.

When “problems” come up, you can deal with them knowing they’re not problems at all because everything is working out for you. You’re strong enough to handle anything that comes your way.
HOW to LET GO and Surrender

Trust the Process
Everything unfolds perfectly in the grand cosmic dance. Try letting go of your impatience. Trust that things will progress as they’re meant to. Letting go is an invitation to accept that a grand cosmic maestro orchestrates life’s events, leading us towards our ultimate good.

– Remember a time where you were flustered, trying to make things happen, only to find peace and harmony when you finally surrendered to the cosmic timing?

Let Go of the Past and Welcome the Present
Surrender invites us to let go of the past and fully inhabit the present moment. It asks us to embrace our circumstances and find inner resilience to navigate them. This acceptance isn’t resignation; it’s a passport to finding inner tranquility amidst life’s constant ebb and flow.

– Can you remember a situation where you fought against acceptance, only to find peace and freedom when you surrendered?

Release Expectations
Surrender involves freeing ourselves from the shackles of expectations and our attachment to specific outcomes. It’s about opening the gates to serendipity and limitless possibilities. By letting go, we allow life to surprise us with gifts beyond our limited imagination.

– Think back to a time when your rigid expectations dissolved into a more rewarding reality through the act of surrender.

Embrace Vulnerability, Open Your Heart
To truly surrender, we need to embrace vulnerability, shed the armor that protects our hearts, and be open to deep emotional connections. Vulnerability is not a weakness but a strength, allowing us to connect with others authentically and experience profound empathy and compassion.

Recall a moment when you resisted vulnerability, and how surrendering paved the way for deep connections and personal growth.

Forgive and Release Resentment
Surrender calls for forgiveness towards ourselves and others. It asks us to let go of the burdens of resentment and choose the path of liberation. The act of forgiveness frees us from the chains of the past and enables us to wholeheartedly embrace the present moment.

– Reflect on a time when resentment consumed you, and surrendering to forgiveness brought about liberation and peace.

Release the Need for Approval
Surrender encourages us to let go of our quest for external validation. It asks us to trust our inner compass and find worth from within. Letting go of the need for approval frees us from the confines of others’ perspectives and allows us to honor our own truths.

– Consider instances when you sought external approval, and how surrendering to your authentic self brought empowerment and freedom.

Surrender the Illusion of Control
Surrender teaches us to recognize the illusory nature of our control. It invites us to sway with life’s ever-changing rhythms and to surrender to the cosmic intelligence that guides us. When we surrender the illusion of control, we find serenity and freedom in accepting life’s unpredictability.

-Think back to a time when surrendering control led to unexpected blessings and personal growth.

Nurture Gratitude, Embrace the Present
Surrender asks us to cherish the present moment, cultivating gratitude for all its complexities. It’s about finding beauty in life’s simplicity. By surrendering to the present, we awaken to the richness of life that remains unnoticed when our minds are trapped in the past or anxious about the future.

– Can you remember a time when surrendering to the present moment brought about a deep sense of gratitude and connection.

Let Go of the Ego’s Identity
Surrender calls us to let go of our ego’s identities and narratives. It beckons us to reconnect with our true essence, beyond the confines of our mind. When we surrender our ego’s need for identity, we align with our eternal essence, transcending the transient realm of thoughts and self-imposed limitations.

– Consider a time when you chose to release the need to define yourself, and how surrendering to your authentic self brought liberation and inner peace.
Final Thoughts
Surrendering is not a one-time act; it is an ongoing journey, a way of being in the world. You keep surrendering over and over until there is no need to do so. It is a process of accepting, embracing, releasing, trusting, and growing. When we surrender, we allow life to flow naturally, trusting the grand design of the universe.

As you go about your week, we invite you to ponder these lessons. Reflect on your journey and past instances of surrender. Trust that the Universe is always operating for your highest good. Ask yourself, “What is it that I am being asked to surrender and let go?”

Remember, the magic always happens outside your comfort zone. So, trust in the power of surrender to transform your life, and open up to a whole new set of possibilities waiting for you. That is the power of surrender.
Conclusion

At the end of the day it’s simply all a choice. You can choose to surrender or you can choose to freak out.

One will open you up to receive magic in your life. One will keep you stuck in your own fears.

Yes this work is hard but if you have the desire for getting more out of life then it’s necessary. You’re so capable of getting through it.

The fact is we are always expanding but it’s up to you how you approach it and what you create out of it

Do you have the courage to go after what you really want?
